Do you ever catch yourself saying, "When I was your age?" Today, I was remembering where I was when the Berlin wall crumbled. My children have no clue what the cold war was or that we had dials on our TV. I was just reminiscing with my husband last night that as children, we would have to rent the VCR from the video store because they were so expensive to buy. Does anyone remember having a Beta? We did. And how about the first mobile phone that was so big you could kill someone if you threw it at them at the wrong angle. We didn't have personal computers and there was no such thing as the Internet. I remember playing Asteroids and Frogger on our Atari.
Cracks me up! How about a map people? Gone our the days when you had to pull over to look at a map or heaven forbid, ask a gas station attendant. Now you just plug it into your GPS. I remember when AIDS was discovered and drove in a Pinto with my grandma. I remember thinking that it would be cool to have a phone, music player, a TV, and a planner all in one little electronic device...enter the IPhone. Those were the days....Can you even fathom what is in store for our children??? What are you just in awe of that wasn't even in existence 20 years ago?

I remember our first microwave--I cannot imagine living without one now. Defrost, reheat, zap a fast lunch. I know it was probably healthier before but I'm grateful for the convenience!
I remember having a Commodore 64 that we played video games. We were jealous of our next-door neighbors. They had an Atari.=]
And my first CD player! And when the Discman came out to replace the Walkman. Yipes, do I actually remember when Walkmen were the gold standard in portable music technology?
We watched "What about Bob" this summer and even though that movie isn't too old there was a scene where a guy walked down the street with a boom box on his shoulder. So funny. I'd forgotten all about that trend. We had the Commodore 64 AND Atari, but we couldn't figure out what to do with the Commodore 64 and always fought over the Atari and the joysticks eventually stopped working because we played so much, and the cartridges wore out and we had to blow on them to get them to work again. My sister was taking a computer class at school and brought home 3 pages of code that we spent hours painstakingly entering into the Commodore 64 and at the end we had a little cartoon picture of a cat. So lame.
